Refill Kit Instructions & Wick Placement Guide Download
Melt & Pour Refill Kit Instructions
Your Soul Fire Candle Co Refill Kit Comes With:
• Pre-scented premium soy blend wax
• All-natural wooden wicks & wick clips
• Wick stickers (for the bottom of the wick clips if you do not have a hot glue gun)
• NOTE: Our candle refill kits are ONLY meant for our candle vessels. The wicks have been tested to burn properly in our vessels only. If you chose to refill a container other than ours, there is no guarantee the candle will burn properly or that it will not tunnel. All candle vessels must be properly tested for safety & proper burns according to the wax, fragrance oil, wicks and vessel combinations, which we only do on vessels we have previously supplied.
Clean out used vessel
• You may search YouTube for the easiest way to clean out your candles, but I prefer the 'Freezer Method'.
o Place candle with 1/4" wax left in the freezer for 30 mins.
o Gently run a butter knife around the edge and stab the frozen wax to break it in to chunks. Dump wax in a wax-melter to avoid wasting it.
o Remove wick & wick clip.
o Rinse out with hot water and wipe clean until completely dry. It's so easy!
Apply wicks to vessel
• Get out your hot glue gun and turn it on. (If you do not have a hot glue gun, use the wick stickers provided)
• Insert your wicks into the wick clips. Add a generous amount of hot glue to the bottom of your wick clip and set your wicks in your vessel.
• See attached Wick Placement Guide depending on your vessel type.
• Pottery & Wood vessels are not always perfectly straight across the bottom so lean is normal. However, if using a hot glue gun, this will resolve this issue.
• Allow glue to harden.
• Adjust each wick inside the clips so that they are straight up and down. The wick clips should not move. If they do, repeat gluing them down and make sure your glue is hot enough.
Melt & pour your wax
• Take the lid off the Melt & Pour container.
• You can choose to transfer wax into a measuring cup for easier pouring.
• Microwave in 1 minute increments until completely melted and approx. 160-170 degrees F.
• Watch your wax carefully.
• Remove wax from microwave with a potholder. Wax container may be hot and bend, be careful.
• Give the wax a little stir – this wax rinses right off in hot water, so feel free to use a teaspoon.
• Pour the melted wax into the vessel slowly and carefully.
• Allow to set for at least 4 hours before moving & 24 hours before proceeding.
Refill Kit Instructions
• Once the candle is completely cooled and wax is hardened, trim the wooden wick to 1/8".
• Your wax has already cured, that’s why it took a week to ship =), so you can now light & enjoy!!!
Congrats! You are now part of the Soul Fire Candle Company candle making team! Yay! =)
All The Warnings:
• Adult supervision is required.
• Again, and I can't stress this enough- Our kits are only meant for our vessels. So much testing has been done to ensure we are only using safe and long-burning wicks in our candles.
• The Melt & Pour container may get hot during melting. Be careful. Seriously.
• If you spill the wax in your microwave, on your counter, or on the floor, remember this is a soy blend wax and it melts with hot water or a hair dryer. I use a heat gun to clean up my spills, but a hair dryer will work just as well and then you simply wipe it up. Paper towels by themselves also work just fine, it just takes a couple passes and some hard pressure. =)
• The melted wax will stain your clothes, so don’t wear anything you wouldn’t say paint a house in. Or just throw on an apron.
• Do not attempt to microwave your empty candle vessel. The wick has a metal tab on the bottom and this is the best way to catch your microwave and house on fire. Check out YouTube for quick and easy ways to clean out an empty candle vessel.
• Yes, the Georgia Peach & Whiskey smells delicious, but please do not eat it. =)
And as always, remember, wooden wicks are NOT self trimming and they like to be kept very short!
Be sure to trim off all excess burnt black wood before every! single! burn! Trimming is also sometimes required during a burn. If your flame is too high at any point while you are burning your candle, blow it out, trim the wick, and relight it.
